Let's talk octopus..

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

For our first blog post, let’s talk octopus...or Krake in German. We chose the octopus not just because they are great creatures, but also because they have maaany arms...representing our classes but also different interests, skills and qualities we all have.

And because we want you to learn something new today, here something to learn: German has 3 grammatical genders: masculine (der), feminine (die), neuter (das). Words ending in -e are normally feminine. So: DIE Krake. BUT. It wouldn’t be German if you couldn’t also say DER Krake. And actually, our octopus has seven arms...so it’s technically a septopus. Very confusing...but something that can be discussed in our German lessons.
